Subject: Charlie Kirk, Obituary
Dear
LILCO buddies,
Last night, I received a note from Bob
Benson that our old friend, Charles Kirk, passed away on Sunday. I
knew he had been suffering from Cancer, and Herman Hess had asked us to
pray for Charlie. I believe he lived in the Northport area, or
thereabouts, and worked for years in the New Business Dept., as a
Planner, most of the time in Brentwood Office. Charlie was a
terrific and long time Softball player. He was active in the
Employees Association, and later, with the Retiree Club of L.I. He
was especially helpful to those of us in the Sales Department, who
depended upon him and his associates to sketch and schedule new
installations. This morning, I checked
www.NEWSDAY.COM to see if his obituary is listed, and it is not.
But if you wish, you might want to check again tomorrow for details, if
you knew Charlie.
A few weeks ago, with help from Herman Hess
and Bob Gray, I received a list of LILCO/KEYSPAN retirees who passed
away during 2005. There are five pages of names, about 230 in all.
I noted just a few names which I recognized as friends, from our own
department and others. Perhaps you knew some of the ones I
circled, i.e.:
Harold Anderson
George Benson Milton Bond Jr.
Warren Brinker
James D. Brown
Frank (Bud) Buschor
Vincent Carey
Thomas Connelly
Rhoda Crepea
Charles J. Davis
Gerard J. Davies Frank DiGaetano
Constance Fairweather
Carl H. Grunning
Richard W. Lane
Francis J. McGuire
Heinz M. Mehner
William P. Murray
Dorothy Panowich
Arthur H. Renz Norman
Soule
Charles Streater
Lillian Twomey
Raymond Weldon
Raymond Wolf
This was some grand bunch of people; folks
who made it great to work for LILCO during a particularly difficult
time. May their souls rest in God's peace, and let us keep their
memories alive in our own hearts. Best regards to all of you,
Bob Becher
