Greetings fellow retirees and friends:

This website is the culmination of a long held belief that those of us who retired from LILCO needed a better form of communication in which to renew old friendships, make new aquaintances, and to illuminate and discuss subjects of common interest and concern.

In 1998 I met with my old friend, Don Weidman, at Woodloch Pines in Northeast Pennsylvania and we discussed the dream of having a WEBSITE for Keyspan Retirees. In 2004 that dream became a reality when www.krcli.org was brought online by the Long Island Chapter. With the support and kind advice of Bob Gray, KRCLI's Site Administrator, I brought KRCFLA online with the intention that it complement the primary Long Island model.

There were 7377 Keyspan Retirees as of January 2004 and 888 of these lived in Florida. The Florida group was spread out over a much larger geographic area than those who remained on Long Island and thus socialization was more difficult. The Southern Division held one meeting a year contrasted with the Long Island Chapter which hosted monthly meetings, an annual Christmas party, and several trips to resorts and theme parks. Similarly news and information was not easily disseminated to Floridians..........sometimes not at all.

This website has several goals including the dissemination of useful news of current events to ALL FLORIDIAN KEYSPAN RETIREES and the hopeful organization of a KRC chapter in the Tampa Bay area, where there is a heavy population of fellow retirees.

In this age of post retirement change we face many challenges to our individual and collective security; all the more reason to stay well informed and to band together for the common good.

I hope that you enjoy the Website and that it serves as a tool to improve communications and good fellowship amongst us all.
